Bulford Bridge Closed For Up To 8 Months

The bridge closed yesterday and the closure will last 6 to 8 months.  Spire FM want to hear from you, so call 01722 416644, or email Charles news@spirefm.co.uk.   Is your business being affected by the closure because of traffic jams, increased costs of extra travelling, or are you unwilling to go into Amesbury and shop because of the inconvenience?

General Meeting, Thursday, 18 March

The General Meeting held on Thursday, 18 March at The George Hotel was well attended.  The guest speakers Alex Sparks of SWEP (South West Economic Partnership), Lucy Howland and Michelle & Andy Rawlings of A&R Metalcraft gave very interesting presentations.  Alex explained her role and how she can assist local businesses in various matters.  (If you would like to be put in touch with Alex please email secretary@stonehengechamber.co.uk).   Lucy Howland advised us of her recent feasibility study for the re-use of the old Co-op site and survived the tough questions!  We wish Lucy well with her plans.  Michelle and Andy Rawlings advised us of a fascinating project they are participating in – the making of The Ancestor.  All very mysterious but it turns out to be a huge metal sculpture representing early man.  The plans are to use the sculpture at Stonehenge during Solstice and the rest of the year he will be resident at Solstice Park.  The project includes involvement from the local communities in the area to provide him with a head-dress at different times of the year.  Andy and Michelle are looking for funding and support for the project, particularly support as they freely admit this is all new to them.  If you can help and want to get involved please email secretary@stonehengechamber.co.uk.

Cheese & Wine Networking Evening

The Cheese & Wine evening on 3 March was a fantastic success for the Chamber.  Nearly 70 people attended this networking event including members of Salisbury, Tidworth and Wilton Chambers.  Laura Trapnell of Bonallack & Bishop gave a very informative presentation on Intellectual Property Rights followed by a question & answer session afterwards.  Fonthill Wines provided a wonderful array of locally produced organic wines and brandy which were surprisingly well priced and very easy to drink!  The Antrobus Arms hosted the event and the Chamber would like to thank Laura Trapnell, Fonthill Wines and The Antrobus for contributing to a most successful evening.
